Greenfield Hospital Program

About this course

This course will provide an overview of the Greenfield Hospital facility design process. You will learn about the different stages of the process, from planning and programming to construction. You will also learn about the key stakeholders involved in the process, including architects, administrators and clinicians.

The course was developed following Mass General Brigham’s proven process that is used when successfully building clinical facilities. The course supports our Facility Design process and is led by Mass General Brigham’s team of subject matter experts. The instructor and subject matter experts have extensive experience in all aspects of Greenfield Hospital facility design, and they also work as clinical and administrative leaders in our world-renowned academic medical center.

Course objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

Understand the different stages of the Greenfield Hospital facility design process and its concepts
Identify the key stakeholders involved in the process
Apply their knowledge of Greenfield Hospital facility design to real-world problems
Learn about the best global standards
Communicate effectively with other professionals involved in the design process

Course staff

Lorain Ramsey Matthews, AIA, LEED AP

Lori Matthews, with 30+ years of experience in healthcare, academic, and research planning and design, leads international healthcare strategy and facility development at Mass General Brigham Global Advisory. A former director at Harvard Medical International and Partners HealthCare International, she has overseen large-scale Greenfield Hospital projects in over 20 countries. Lori holds a Master's in Architecture from Harvard and a BA from Millersville University, and is a member of the American Institute of Architects, Boston Society of Architects, and a LEED Accredited Professional.
